Dollar sales of yogurt products with whole grains grew nearly 1,300% from 2011 to 2013.
During the same period, total category sales climbed almost 16% – so the growth of sales of yogurts with whole grain/multi grain claims are outpacing category growth.
The introduction of Greek yogurt has had a major impact on the category, and now consumers are waiting to see what’s coming next. With health serving as a major purchase driver – 44% purchase yogurts because the products are healthier than other snack options, and 40% say it’s specifically for digestive health according to Mintel – the digestive health benefits of whole grains from Roman Meal could be a perfect fit.
